The existing transport planning is not at satisfactory level in Kakinada Municipal Corporation. Preliminary proposals are initiated for improvement of the traffic.

A) RTC

1. City Buses by APSRTC.
2. RTC Route Planning.
3. Mobile App for Citizen to monitor availability of Buses.
4. Display Board at Bus Shelters.
5. Up-gradation of Existing Bus Terminal (APSRTC).

B) Traffic Police

1. One way traffic planning in Main road, Temple Street and Cinema road including cross roads.
2. Traffic Signals
3. CC Cameras installed at Traffic Junctions.
4. Route diversion for reducing congestion in the main road.
5. Restriction for entry of heavy vehicles on the main road during day time
6. No Parking on main road and levy of penalties and towing of vehicles parked illegally.

C) Kakinada Municipal Corporation

1. Developing Parking places in consultation with Traffic Police
2. Developing multilevel parking facility at Santhacheruvu
3. Bus Shelter Up-gradation on PPP made.
4. Bus Bays.
5. Zebra Crossings.
6. Lane Markings.
7. Speed breakers at cross roads.
8. Widening of main road phase-II
9. Widening of Cross – roads at three roads (Main Roads, Cinema Road and Temple Street)
10. Issuing notice to the Owners of the Major congregation places like shopping malls/ Cinema Theatres/ Function Halls/ Hospitals etc. to provide parking.
11. Developing existing road from RTO office to Port.
12. Widening of Warf Road
13. Pedestrian friendly footpaths.
14. Vending zones

Suggestions are invited from the Citizens on this proposal up to 15th November, 2015.

A-3,5 ARE NEEDED COMPULSORY B-3 IS NEEDED FOR WOMEN SECURITY AND FOR IDENTIFYING THE THIEFS C-3,4,6,8,9,11 ARE TO BE GIVEN MORE PRIORITY

C 8,9,11,12-Prioritize with simultaneous upgradation of water/sanitation/power/cable works if needed 13-No, for multiple reasons 14-Good if with proper sanitation and garbage disposal system

B 4-Impractical unless roads are well connected maintained and widened 6-Only if commercial areas have adequate parking spaces for each store/outlet as per its serviceability, ELSE STORE/OUTLET LICENSE SHOULD BE REVOKED C 4-Useless unless Drivers and commuters counseled and enforced 5-Impractical except at some school and college zones with scouts to manage at times 6-Road width should be maintained for all lanes to exists and utilized 7-Minimal with good inclination and declination angle

A 1-Switch to PPP mode with stringent guidelines of safety, comfort and maintenance 2-Identify hubs for each locality and connect with the main route 3-Useless unless GPS mapped live tracking enabled 5-At least five fold growth forecast should be maintained during expansion and up-gradation B 3-HD cameras with functional team to analyze and penalize even petty disobeying of traffic rules apart from crimes and other civil security issues ON DAY TO DAY BASIS

Sir Infrastructure is the biggest hurdle in Kakinada development. Proper drainage facilities n most important making people aware of civic responsibility, sir. Traffic rules, road rules are overlooked because many are unaware and police intervention in such cases is also less.

Widening of Main Road Phase I is still in progress in some segments. For Phase II start-up, involve Trade Associations and Chamber of Commerce for proper motivation
