Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Some of suggestions for increasing non fare revenue, it means to reduce expenses also, 1. Increase the use of green energy at railway stations, we have plenty of open land near all railway stations, this type of project can be run by PPP model so that railway department can not any type of initial cost of investment. 2. Increase use of large barren land of railway department by installing small scale industries of material which railway department used routinely and passengers require

please take a survey of all the scrap lying all and around railway station, tracks, etc and invite online tender only from iron foundries and in that railway can get more price per kg and also can avoid middle men commission 2)install only transparent plastic sheets on all the railway station in order 2 minimize electricity usage during day time as we can use sunlight 3)sensible use of water while refilling as i have seen mny water tap lying open, water gets waste after refilling#nonfarerevenue

Convert Railway stations into multi-level activity/Business centres like basement for parking, ground floor for railways and second floor and above for hotels, food courts, shopping mall and entertainment spaces. Utilize land holdings in vicinity of or at railway stations to create business hubs in any city or town. For villages, make railway stations into government service centres to include banks, employment exchange office, etc.

1.solar panels on the top coaches creates the energy save revenue. 2.Railway track are not efficient to speed pls update that. 3.And some part to rural area railway project pass but work in not prognoses. 4.In HP kala amb & paonta sahib industrial area but not concerting with railway. so that road transportation more costly then the railways pls consider that place to railway line and increase the revenue.Same place in this part more beautiful then other tourist place.

HI, Railways has the maximum unutilized land assets. First ensure to legally and physically protect them and ensure to keep all these land records in digital mode. When you acquire land for any new lines, take extra land near new stations being built to provide for commercial use of these land. Value will go up as soon as a railway station comes up even in a desert, since this is one critical need for development. Never sell your land give it on long lease only

Railways can save revenue by installing solar panels on the top of their coaches which creates the energy and save revenue.

1. Provide Internet Connectivity at Railway Platforms (for free) and then charge for high speed internet connection 2. As we move towards Cashless economy, it is very evident we cannot increase transaction charges, but can only increase rates of lunch, dinner, basic amenities 3. Increase platform ticket charges 4. Charge for parking at railway stations #NonFareRevenue, #IndianRailways, #MyGov
