Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Try to modernise the Railway stations with more vending machines and allow specific local space to local vendors at long travel stations. Intercity Metros which runs over bridge will reduce travel time and will also reduce people moving to urban areas just for their work. For example, if Chennai to Villupuram will be just 2 hrs travel with just 2 stops at chengalpet and tambaram, then people from villupuram will not relocate to chennai.

1. Provide voluntary additional payment of fare while booking online tickets. Link railway booking with PAN no. and give deduction from Income tax, if any person makes additional payment than the normal railway fare, he is liable to pay. Link Income tax server with Railway server to provide deduction from the income. 2. City railway station should be rebuild for overhead transfer of trains. Give ground for parking. 3. Motion censor LED bulbs to save electricity

Sir stop the scams going on in to your Railway Hospitals by purchasing higher MRP Brands & not the Generic Brands. 1. They rule as they want. 2. They stop registration when ever they want. 3. They only accept the tenders from there registered companies. 4. They reject the companies if they don't want them in to their registered list. 5. A very long process of registering company & due to that many of the manufacturer does not take entrust in registering their company for Railway.

Dear Sir, Here is what I would propose: 1. Lease out the space to retail outlets (large ones) 2.Continue to encourage the online booking, mobile ticket validation etc 3.Look at up skilling of Railway workforce, that way the ROI will be better 4. Railway has huge landholdings, that can be utilized for Multi level car parking, Halls (to be rented for events) 5. Increase the advertising options@Railways & inside trains. all digital ads 6. Usage of solar panels where applicable
