Double deck trains should run on the northern railways since this route has lot of passengers. this will also reduce the frequently delaying of the trains in this route.

The vacant land (belongs to Indian Railways) nearby the Railway station may be developed on PPP Basis where shopping malls or Amusement park may be constructed and we all know that railways property is being used by unauthorised persons, in this case it may also help to stop all these and revenue can also be earned. secondly the railway platforms are being used by unauthorised vendors and the platform side may used by constructing shoppes and the same might be allotted to the vendors

1. Wi-Fi topup(much needed): Provide High speed Wi-Fi topup WITHIN train with some minimal fees.
2. Seat selection(much needed): Provide this facility with some extra charges.
3. Business class cabin: Suitable for business meeting.
4. On train Bathrooms: on long distance train, remove one side of the toilet in each couch instead make bathroom with chargable use & supply.
5. Solar Panels: Minimise electricity/fuel use with solar panel in each train.

Namaskar,
For long Haul trains, a dedicated A/C Coach for screening movies on a 35mm format or larger. A proper theater experience running 4-5 shows with charges around 100/- per seat and a maximum of 40 seats - see attached sketch.

Steps like automated ticketing system, improving infrastructure, etc take investment and time. The only way of increasing revenue with almost no cost is ADVERTISEMENT at free spaces. For example, putting ads on trains or advertisement boards in platforms.
A more unorthodox example would be naming trains with companies, for example, "MYGOV Ranchi Howrah express" is an advertisement for mygov.in and can fetch revenue. This is similar to how Delhi metro has named metro stations by company names.

To increase non fare revenue Indian Rail required:
1. Use Train coaches for the advertisement.
2. Use railway track for the advertisement.
3. We cans give unused land on rent or start farming on it.
4. Start taking extra charges for heavy luggage similar to airlines.
5. Minimum fare charge should be increased up-to Rs.25
6. Start general ticket booking on irctc website.

Respected Sir/Mam
As Indian Railways are want to increase their non-fare revenue they can do such by converting all trains from deisel engine to Electric engine as it cost less then as of now. Also by using less weight high strength materials in making of railway coches and engines.
You can also improve by advertiesment promotion of other private compnies by contract by printing on railway tickets to promote them.

Dear Sir,
Please incorporate below changes in Railway system to increase revenue.
1. Please allow space to big vendors like Eating outlets (Haldiram), shopping outlets (Big Bazar) and so on...This will only help if space will be kept neat and clean. Conditions to be laid out while giving contract to maintain the place with a penalty clause in case of defaulter
2. Promote online booking by eliminating online payment charges and promote paperless journey via SMS booking.

I think like the metro railways the doors of western, central railways should be made to auto close. This will guarantee the number of people travelling. No more passengers will be hanging on the doors and will get killed. More people will be attracted in travelling. In side the train instead of the lengthy seat singular seats can be made so more people can stand and more leg space.Radio or a small tv can be used inside the railways for entertaining people and earning revenues by ads.
