Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Respected Prime Minister Modiji and Railways Minister Prabhuji, Kindly post absolutely honest officials as CARGO MANAGERS at terminal Stations like HOWRAH, NEW DELHI, MUMBAI etc.,DOUBLE the actual collection figure and give that figure as TARGETS from JANUARY 01, 2017. Revenue will DOUBLE. DOUBLE the AC FIRST CLASS FARES IN ALL TRAINS. RAISE ALL AC FARES BY 60%. Give 10% cashback for digital payments. Increase prices of food in long distance trains by 50% in AC compartments and by 25% in oth

On suburban railway tickets allow advertising. Open exclusive stores on large railway stations for selling native products of that state. Create executive lounges on the railway stations with state of art facilities on chargeable basis. Provide personal entertainment options on chargeable basis in first class and second ac on rajdhani & shatabdi trains. On large stations create banquets for small occasions. Provide chargeable covered, safe and secure long term parking space.

My suggestions are: • Lease out all the railway stations of India to private sector/MNCs/ Overseas firms on yearly basis, charge them monthly and revenue should be minimum 4x-5x from current revenue generated. Their primary responsibilities would also to have stations clean and green. This should be done on competitive basis. This will not only generate revenue for railways but also provide employment opportunities to many citizens. • Allow them to generate revenue from renting railway premise

Just as airlines have in-flight magazines, trains too can have an in-rail magazine, to start with, at lest for all AC classes. Very good revenue can be generated through ads in the magazine. As i have been associated with the media for over three decades, I am sure this will be a sure winner. Am willing to help in planning and execution.

Small sellers often found in trains are unregistered vendors who sell illegally. If we make them registered vendors by charging some fees to sell in trains we can have multiple benefits like 1)Regulate movement of vendors in each train 2) Regulate quality of food/items sold in trains 3)Reduced theft incident by stopping unauthorized footprints in trains in the name of vendor.

I have seen so many times in Specially Lucknow Mail Train No-12230 that Big Bundels of Courier's are been carried in Sleeper Coach with in the knowledge of the Travelling Ticket Examiner. He also never asks because he also take bribe from them. moreover to it they sells their Birth to other passengers and sleeps on the Courier Bundel's. Once i complained a TTE for the same but all in vain.

>on board video game console in selected coaches. >on board vending machines for water, juice, chips etc. >on board beauty parlor & SPA (In long distance trains, identified by proper market survey) >A paid bathroom facility with additional features. Many would not mind to pay additional price to avail a well furnished, cleaner, fragrant bathroom on long journeys. can be even used as a part of spa. payment could be per use basis. This should be additional to existing bathroom facility.

Sir ; The major question is not non fare income. The question needs to be divided into 2 . # increase in income from non fare. # decrease in loss due to carelessness or malfunction. Now coming to non fare income. Several steps can be taken. 1 lease land on both sides of railway track to ayurvedic companies for cultivation on medicinal plants. Or flower exporting companies. 2 . greatest loss of railway Is due to TT's malpractice. Run the ticket checking on PPP mode.for more give ur email

The catering services for long distance trains can be improved. The food provided in Rajdhani also gives food poisoning. People are ready to pay for quality as health is priority. Seems as air tickets are becoming cheaper, its equivalent to 2tier ac tickets. So who will travel for 24 hrs that too without proper food facility.

1. Digital payment /POS should be make as mandatory in railway station for tickets as well as shop keepers. cash transaction should be banned. 2. Medical store with essential generic medicines for sugar, bp, cardiac, kids medicines and kids essentials like diapers should available around the clock. 3. Porters rate should be fixed like booking for parcel and should be paid at counters like prepaid taxi.
