All major stations can have guest rooms with 1-2 cots available on hourly basis that will also contain washroom. Can be booked online. That will be very helpful for in break journey travelers or one day travelers. Also, locker facility along with it.

Make all the trains AC with windows closed to avoid dust. Better quality of travel and amenities will be possible with slightly higher cost. Also use Solar power for all the trains in India, that will reduce the running cost for each train.

With less cash economy kicking in, why not focus on fare based revenue as well. It's a big opportunity. Do a survey of banks who have maximum Debit/Credit card issues, online banking registered consumers, e-wallet users and offer a discount on ticket booking (select 5-10 banks) while using those cards. I am optimistic that it will help beat the competition we face from the airline industry.

second : I think all coach outside place can be used as advertisement, with restriction such as using logo or trademark name only...that might generate good revenue

Please make luggage booking & transportation hassle free for individuals and increase facility of point to point transportation by employing third party logistics to move luggage from house to railway station and vice versa. Being in a transferable job my experience of transporting luggage has been a nightmare with Railways, to say the least. One has to himself transport to railway station, wait for long hours have to pay bribe & one is not sure if the luggage will get delivered in time!!

4. Increase the number of AC chair cars in all trains. There should be a small table in the middle and then, arrange sale of premium products in such cars. Contrary to common perception, today, the middle class is ready to pay for better services. If given a chance, they would like to make the train journey more enjoyable by eating, drinking, shopping and even watching movies. They will pay a premium for that.

Hello Everyone ;
Some of the small things that i have noted are;
1. dailyvarious trains travels between two important stattions one having agricultural base other with industrial base e.g Nasik/Ahmednagar to Pune/Mumbai, which are just 3 hrs apart...so the system shall be developed to load the products such as Milk, vegetables in small flat boxes over each coach within 10 mins...and to compensate this train speed be somehow improved (which generally slows due to signal issues)

New Revenue Generation methods can be as follows:
Explore e-commerce: The Railways must allow on-board catering by large food chains and local restaurants through transparent bidding
Marketing: There is huge potential for generating revenue from advertising on railway properties
Attract customers: Increase fare revenue by enhancing customer experience
