Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

1.every ticket will include breakfast and lunch as per all ac seat tear to start. 2.special facilities for lawyer and doctor . 3.every bogi will fm radio must for suuhana sufar. 4.a phone facilities for every train for complaint and cc camera is must for passenger safety and corruption remove.

Sir, My suggestions are 1) Like airports, various small stalls of various brands in & around platforms(assuring proper space to passengers)to be opened. The prices should be lower so that people should prefer to buy there. 2) The logistics facility to various online e-commerce site like amazon, snapdeal, flipkart etc to be provided by rail assuming it is not there at present. This facility should even be available for 100 km distance also. fares should be lower than road logistics.

Respected sir, There are various ways: 1 Hoardings both inside and outside railways. 2 Automated stairs for old and handicapped people. 3 Led should be attached inside the trains. 4 Vacant land should be saned of exploitating for station re devolpment. 5 Refreshments and entertainent for childrens. 6 Increase price whenever possible.

1. All privilege passes should be scraped being issued to staff and others. Instead actual fares may be reimbursed to railway employees. At present these passes are being misused and instead of single use they are used for whole three month period for multiple journey. 2. All TTE/ conductors should be given online devises to record the checking the presence of passenger . so as absence passenger seat can not be allotted illegally by TTE

Since all major Railway Stations are located in prime locations and in heart of cities in all cities, railways can construct Economy,2 star, 3 star hotels in the station premises. One time investment and multiple benefits can be arrived. 1) Revenue 2) Employment generation 3) Optimum utilisation of available idle land 4) Better utilisation of already available infrastructure .

There is vast unused land of indian railways throughout the country. Can it be used to be given on lease to farmers to grow various crops which can be used for revenue generation.

Here are my thoughts:- 1)Sell advertising space on trains and railway stations directly through bidding process. Currently this is done through brokers who get the space at low cost and resell the space at high cost. 2) Currently many trains have too many halts and due to this, railways are not preferred by business travellers due to the long journey time. Rail routes should be shortened. 3) Railways need to more aggressively market freight services.
