Expensive cigarettes are not as harmful as cheaper ones or beedies
• Cigarettes are safer than chewing tobacco
• It is safe to smoke menthol, or low-tar cigarettes (smokers who use these tend to smoke more cigarettes)

• If you quit smoking, you will gain weight (with a good diet and exercise plan, you won’t)
• Smoking a couple of cigarettes a day isn’t harmful
• Cigarettes help people de-stress (it is the harmful substances in cigarettes that relaxes a smoker)

Smoking is definitely injurious to health but not just for cancer but also for many other associated lifestyle disorders. It may be contributing factor to poor diabetes management outcomes.

These were an assessment of population based studies to highlight the epidemiologic and functional association between smoking and hyperglycemia and to create a process that makes smoking assessment as a part of the protocol for diabetes diagnosis and management process.

In the recent past some major studies have pointed in this direction. In fact it has been declared by US department of Health in 2014 that smokers are at 30-40% increased risk of developing diabetes .
