Interest on fixed deposits is a main source of livelyhood for retired Senior Citizens. The rate of interest on Fixed Deposits has come down drastically nowadays. Income tax on fixed deposit interest which is deducted at source is another burden for the Senior Citizens. FM may consider a SPECIAL DEDUCTION OF Rs.150000/- on interest income of SENIOR CITIZENS.

We should allow individual people and corporates to make political donations on which income tax relief should be provided (similar to other countries). This will help individual and corporates to make donations to a political party in a transparent manner and engage citizens in the political process.

Suitable amendment in Section 244A of the Income Tax Act be made that if on processing the return U/S 143(1) or on passing the order U/S 143(3), the amount refundable be refunded to the assessee within one week of the date of such order. Failing which interest @ 12% be paid to the assesse for period of delay and a part of excess interest paid be recovered from the officer responsible. This will curb corruption.

It would be appropriate that senior citizens with 80 years and above living on pension are not required to file income tax.

Salaried persons are only TAXED in our country and that contributes very nominally to the exchequer: hence reduce the tax on salaried people so that they will improve the quality of life and that will enhance the consumption: will reduce the incidence of "bribe" among the salaried class as well. Remove limit for investment in infrastructure related investment for tax exemption with 5 year plus redemptions.

Suitable amendment be made in section 154 that all rectification petitions be filed on line based on PAN Card No. and all the petitions should be disposed off by the assessing officer having jurisdiction within 30 days online and a intimation for disposal be communicated to the assesse which will reduce the harassment and corruption. Generally the rectifications are not made automatically but the assesse's representatives required to visit again and again and some time for months and years.

Let us have a progress card on the plans announced during budget for each quarter or by six months - so that the citizens can know if the plans have been realized and how much progress has been made in implementing the schemes.
For Education and Health support, let us have more public / Government units ( Kendriya vidyalayas for education and Govt hospitals for Healthcare) with good facilities- Private participation in these sectors have increased the costs too high

Kindly ensure that Agricultural lands are not blatantly converted for real estate or for Industrialization. Our primary guiding principle must be - at any cost we should not hamper the agriculture industry for any developmental project. There should be a cap of retaining agricultural lands. This way only we can ensure food security by indigenous production of agricultural products - this should not come by imports. Also let us promote traditional cropping and irrigation methods
