Examination reforms that focus on problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills are critical to improving quality at the secondary level. Such reforms will change the teaching–learning processes and improve learning outcomes. In recent years, CBSE has introduced wide-ranging examination reforms in schools affiliated to it, such as Class X Board Examination has been made optional, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has been strengthened so that the students, are assessed on an ongoing basis for their holistic development, a system of grading in place of marks has been introduced. The objectives are to look at the existing systems and suggest reforms which would help better assessment of students.

These kind of debates and knowledge sharing needs to be given due credit during final assessment of the students performance in a year. We shouldnt rely on the final exam but also take into consideration the debates, discussions and other events for these subjects that are held in an year. We need to make these subjects more interactive and less subjective. Not everyone is interested in learning about battles and kings. But it is important and we need to change the way we impart this knowledge

For history,what we can do is, instead of asking questions in the normal fashion, we can change the way of asking questions. For eg,we can give them a couple of revolutionaries and ask them to write an essay on one of them. Or during classes, teachers can pick an important event and have a debate between two sections of classes. Similarly questions needs to be asked in order to understand their practical knowledge.These type of questions wont have a set answer but we can judge them for knowledge

there is a need to change the way we take different subjects which seem dis-interested to students like History, Geography and Civics We need to change the way we go about these subjects in the class and the way we assess the students. We should focus more on the understanding part rather than the memorizing part which is more in focus because of exams where students need to memorize entire chapters and reproduce them as is in question papers.

the system of streaming after 10 boards requires a serious contemplation for it fragments a learning process at an age when most of students are at no position to wisely choose what they want to pursue further,as a result of which they flows with external advise which pay heed to market requirement but not excellence.

i think the exams system puts enormous pressure upon students who takes marks a larger than life factor and thereby ignore real creativity and thought process.this malware needs to be addressed asap for greater development of minds of students.

I believe one measure that can be taken is whenever the teacher finishes any chapter then after a week or so the exam of that particular chapter must be taken . The advantage of this: 1)Since student needs to prepare only 1 chapter he will complete it easily with far greater understanding 2)Since student knows that this chapter is going to come in next week exam ,he will pay more attention in class. And in final exam you can always take the exams with all the chapters included

Examination should not be annually or half yearly but must be everyday! Everyday work in school should be seen as a part of examination, this will truly enhance learning outcomes! It must be seen as a self evaluating and self correcting method rather than a rat race!

To ignite and nourish innovative thinking, teach and show them things that inspire. there is no point in teaching then that Edison invented Electric Bulb but explain how it works & transformed the world, instead to teaching that Madam curie got Nobel for inventing Radium explain why it deserves Nobel etc.Explain how many Scientists failed before they finally succeeded to make them try. This type of learning will not only help them 2 respect & appreciate INNOVATION but motivate them 2 innovate.

The concept of "assessment" at school level which are still formative years of a child puts undue pressure, instead the emphasis should be on "encouragement". Identify students with low confidence & leadership abilities, inferiority complex, public speaking,etc by giving him roles like Class Rep, Head Boy etc on a rotational basis. The idea is not to evaluate him but to make him experience such things which he fear the most. ONCE he/she CONQUER his FEARS he can conquer anything in the WORLD.
