Frankly Sir i have got good marks in history subject in my 9th class but i dont remember a word now . Its often seen for certain competitions exams students take extra tutions for subjects they have already passed but dont remember a word because it was all for marks before.Students should be tested differenly -
1.Test student's grip of subject by giving a project and asking questions about it.
2. Give a group task like plays, community service so that they can understand subjects like civics.

The Strength of secondary level education depends on primary level instead completing the syllabus, stress should be lied on achievement of competencies. One should be strong in Languages and maths.

State education boards should follow the CBSE syllabus. Now because of easier content in State boards, the students are not able to compete effectively in National(IIT, NIT, GATE) and International(GRE, GMAT) entrance exams, when they reach 12th or after graduation. From Primary school itself, focus should be to create a highly skilled next generation which can easily solve maths and science problems. Also, Textbooks (printing and content) is not as good as CBSE. Teachers, School be benchmarked.

I like Indian examination system(1960s - 2000s) as it forces students to put extra effort and be competitive. We cannot blindly follow the american or european system as it has failed those countries. India produces Engineers and doctors because of it's examination system(1960s - 2000s). India needs more professionals than musicians, hair stylists and other less scientifically skilled people, as produced by western examination systems.

Public examination system should be re-introduced. 7th, 10th and 12th should have state/nation level public examination system. In many surveys conducted by independent agencies 8th standard student do not know the basics of the subjects. Focus should be longterm and to create a highly skilled next generation. Also, policy should understand that all are not same and India needs employees at A, B, C, D grade employees in an Organisation. A student should not be graduate, if he is only worth ITI.

Compulsory promotion policy has to be dropped. If a student is not upto the mark he has to be failed. Current system is creating an Unemployable graduates, who do not have the skill set in the job market. Because they are graduate, they are not ready to take up lower level jobs. Student has to given realistic assessment of his knowledge early in life. We can't push people to 12th standard and expect them to study 12th science and maths, if they do not know the basics.
