Examination reforms that focus on problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills are critical to improving quality at the secondary level. Such reforms will change the teaching–learning processes and improve learning outcomes. In recent years, CBSE has introduced wide-ranging examination reforms in schools affiliated to it, such as Class X Board Examination has been made optional, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has been strengthened so that the students, are assessed on an ongoing basis for their holistic development, a system of grading in place of marks has been introduced. The objectives are to look at the existing systems and suggest reforms which would help better assessment of students.

In this CCE Pattern, as Evaluation of Class X answer sheets are done in school only (Home Exam) many teachers have been compelling students to take private tuition from them in order to secure good marks. There has been instances where 150-200 students of a school are securing A1 grade by wrong ways, and these students hence face difficulty in Class XII boards. Hence in order to increase education quality and for a fair play. I strongly recommend to re-start external evaluation in Class X boards

This New CCE System was introduced to improve quality of education . but on the contrary, students have become reluctant and developed a careless attitude towards studies. They Don't study hard, don't respect teachers as they know they will pass anyway. also due to semester system upto class X , the students are facing difficulty when full course comes in their XI and XII board exams. Hence Quality of education is decreasing and school drop-outs are increasing.

I think there should be 1 additional paper in class 10th Board exam where the paper is subjective, consists of 60-100 marks and asks questions on the outcomes of certain types of scientific experiments, experiments NOT taken verbatim from NCERT textbooks. Instead, the experiments based subjective questions asked in this paper be new, but based completely on the NCERT science theories so that students will not complain but understand the value of converting theoretical into practical knowledge.
