Examination reforms that focus on problem-solving, critical thinking and reasoning skills are critical to improving quality at the secondary level. Such reforms will change the teaching–learning processes and improve learning outcomes. In recent years, CBSE has introduced wide-ranging examination reforms in schools affiliated to it, such as Class X Board Examination has been made optional, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) has been strengthened so that the students, are assessed on an ongoing basis for their holistic development, a system of grading in place of marks has been introduced. The objectives are to look at the existing systems and suggest reforms which would help better assessment of students.

Third party independent assessment should be adopted to conduct aptitude test. This can be similar to GRE test. it must be voluntary and open around the year. This should allow student of any age to take test of any standard. There is no reason for smart new generation kids to spend 10 years in school to take 10th standard test if he can do it with 5 years of schooling. similarly a slow learner should be able to take the same 10th standard test at the age of 18.

No failure policy in education is leading the education to a ridiculous end. The students are not supposed to study as they are not failed at primary level upto 10. This system decreased their attention towards their studies. The education must be given to make a good human being first then a good and responsible citizen who contribute in the development of the country in all aspects. The child should be assessed in other fields too and given chance in other fields where he could do better..

CCE is obviously a much effective and scientific system than the older ones to assess a student for his or her holistic development but it has much given stress on the observations of the foreign educationists which are completely different from the entire scenario of our country.Moreover, CCE necessitates a full-proof infrastructure in the schools throughout the nation which is much lagging in most of the states otherwise the entire system will fail and it'll not yield a fruitful result at all.

1. Get rid of MArks. Use A, B C or 1 to 5 to rate students. A student who scores 91 is not better than who scores 89. 2. Marks for sports. Sports should be a subject in every class till 10th. 3. Marks for good behaviour. Major developed nations like Germany and Japan only teach good values till 3rd class. And India needs more value education. 4. 4 exams in a year, each exam having 25% weight. students will study actively no final exam stress, no loss of a year due to ilness.

My son Dhruv came back from US to Pune, India to join school in Pune in his 7th grade. He had no way of learning Hindi or Marathi in the US and hence he could not join any school but ICSE taking French and not sanskrit. Sanskrit must be made a second language available to all students in any board. Also, we were told the CBSE and ICSE board will harass the school principal saying how can student pick sanskrit over Hindi? the student is thus forced to take french. This is such a sorry state

The CCE system at secondary level be done away with. This is a useless system wherein the teachers are more involved in clerical work. It is also too complicated. Instead old system be introduced with some modifications. Out of 100 marks, the board paper should be of 60 marks. 40 marks should be reserved for internal assessment by the school. These marks should be for project work and other activity related exercises.

Our education system is completely exam oriented which is not a good thing. Today almost every student opens his/her textbook only for studying for tomorrow's exam & not out of curiosity or interest. What our new education policy should focus on is PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE. Because that's the thing which is going to help all of us in our daily lives & our future. And today's education system certainly lacks this important part. we need to move on from Macaulay's rote learning to practical learning

Please also consider not changing the education policy every two-three years as this creates a lot of confusion not only in the minds of the children but also the teachers and parents. Lets not treat our children as guinea pigs!!

I think the present policy of no detention till class 8 is good as it puts less pressure on the child. In any case the calibre of teachers in most schools leaves a lot to be desired. The system where a child can also score on the basis of his/her talent is good. In my opinion instead of rote learning emphasis should be put on evaluating the clarity of concepts in a child. This may be done by not only written evaluation but also oral as some children are unable to express themselves in writing.
