Tribal development forms the foundation for the economic growth of a nation which carries with it a substantial portion of the tribal population. Supporting the native tradition is the key to building a strong community and a healthy economy. With 8% of the population of India belonging to the Scheduled Tribe it becomes critical for the government to safeguard their interest and promote their livelihood. TRIFED the Government of India established organization, supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been a security net for the tribes across the nation for over 30 years now. It has taken several initiatives for socio-economic welfare and empowerment of tribal communities through capability building, marketing, distribution, packaging, and other supporting activities.

Inhabiting the remotest parts of the country and being reserved, poses several problems for the community as well as the government in assisting their growth

• Dwelling in the Natural Habitat they carry a wealth of knowledge in plants, forest produces as well as ancient herbs, which is tantamount to that of an expert. With efficient support, this can be developed further to generate significant income for the community
• There has been an increase in the rate of unemployment among schedule tribes in the past few years owing to the lack of connection to the mainstream market
• Despite having been given reservations by the central government, residing in rural areas have posed difficulty for them in making the most of the benefits offered
• Members of the tribal community have made noteworthy contributions to the nation right from our struggle for freedom to the field of Healthcare, Education, and Technology. This shows that the community holds the potential to thrive under proper guidance

Taking the aforesaid points into consideration, TRIFED has committed itself to ensuring the all-around welfare of the Indian tribes. This is not limited to just inculcating entrepreneurial skills among them or having built an exclusive brand “Tribes India” for them but extends to establishing Van DhanKendras, providing awareness about vaccination for Covid, providing vocational training, and organizing Trade Fairs on a massive scale. The recent decision to observe the 15th November-the birth anniversary of tribal icon BirsaMunda as “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas” is praiseworthy and TRIFED would unveil The National Tribal Festival “Aadi Mahotsav” on the following day to commemorate it. This festival is not only a platform for the tribal artisans to showcase their valuable skills but the revenue that it generates for the community is of utmost significance.

TRIFED under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi has been constantly pushing and coming up with reformed measures to realize the mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat by improving the quality of tribal produce, providing technological up-gradation, assisting in research & development and is now keen to see the suggestions of field experts, students, business leaders, social activists, subject-matter experts and all the contributors to this field in order to expedite its mission of economic development of Tribals.

As we mark the 75th year of India’s Independence we want you to have a greater stake in revolutionizing the tribal economy.

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 30th June, 2022

As of we know 8% of India population are of tribal community its just a small percentage we can easily help them in more proportion.Just like if someone in our family are fails to at some stage of him/her life journey we all help him to stand again As same we have to do with them.Because they are also part of our social family . 1). They were have magnificent knowledge of forest and plants . We are having ayurvedic treatment which mostly required very rare plants with help of these tribal community we can engage them with Ayurveda healthcare system . From these healthcare professionals get rare medicinal plants and these tribal people gets income 2) many natural products like Honey, jute, wild berry etc are popular in urban area government need to create some kind of tribal brand products and sell in urban market.this will make huge impact 3) Total forest cover of our country21.71% there are forest officer who manages all affairs We can give tribal people employment to help officer

To make robust tribal areas economy , micro plans for tribal areas of different states should be prepared based on potential of locally availavle resources and produce should be prepared which will vary from place to place or state to state. I am submitting suggestion in respect for tribal areas of Himachal pradesh as follows:- 1.) Being horticulture major income source of tribal areas of himachal and Apple is the major fruit crop having more shelf life and best quality, apple produce must be procured and marketted with good prices. 2) Dried apple cubes, Dried apricot are prepared by the tribal peoples, which must be encouraged by providing proper market linkage and technology (drying technology ). 3) Winery especially Grape wine has also good potential in Kinnaur tribal area where grapes varieties suitable for wine making are produced. 4)Wild fruit i.e. Chilgoza has great potential in Kinnaur. 5) Hand made/wooven warm clothes and local ornaments should be encouraged with market.

!!Don't make sudden change !! 1) Committee : Committee should be formed with the help of Central and state Ministry of Tribal Affairs. who make a survey and see their current poor condition. After that make plan and policy for the development of Tribal community. And Government take official action for their growth. 2)Awareness : It's very important to aware them about development, technology and how to leave in this modern society. So they break out their old thoughts and came towards this modern world. 3)Necessity/ Opportunity : Five things matter for development of any society. That is Food,Shelter,Education, Hospital and Employment .Government should provide this for their development if they really want's to develop them. Tribal communities have their own skills, So government gave them Opportunities that they can expand their skills on broad level. NOTE : Schools & college should built like that ,children take interest in studies. 4) Connect them with outsiders. WE WIN
