The strings of India's development have been inseparably attached to the success of its Textiles sector. The industry's symbiotic relationship with agriculture widens the range of beneficiaries.

•4.5 crore people are directly employed while another 6 crores are indirectly in this sector with a considerable stake of women and rural population.

•5% of the global trade in textiles and apparel is to India's credit.

•India's centuries-old knowledge and expertise in this sector have positioned it as the world's 2nd largest manufacturer and exporter with a 12% share in total exports (2018-19).

And now we, at the Textiles Ministry have our sights set on achieving global leader status for India. Government under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has been pushing for innovation and incentives to realise the mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by bolstering exports, quality & productivity, competitiveness, technology up-gradation, research & development, and training & skill development in this industry.

Now, we are keen to listen to the suggestions of Industry experts, innovators, students, business leaders, and all other contributors to this sector to expedite our mission. As we mark the 75th year of India's Independence, we want you to have an increased stake in the success of the Textiles industry.

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 15th August 2021.

R/Sir, 1) As per Min of Textile annual report 2019-2020, NHDC supply of yarn dropped from 1556 lacs kg to 403 lacs kg (-70%). However Dyes & Chemicals supplies shrink from 45.82 lac kg to 33.06 lac kg (- 30%). This shows a mismatch and need to be looked into. 2) Can we develop out of line products like mobile phone covers, i-pad covers, etc in hand loom sector? We may able to promote use of bamboo this way with much better market potential.

It is difficult to carry a food plate and a glass of water/drink together using one hand. If both are carried separately then both the hands get occupied. Having observed this in many having an inbuilt glass in a food plate so that both can be held/carried together using only one hand. The glass, which would be fitted in a slot on the food plate, can be detached and used whenever required.

visualises a food plate, which can be compressed/folded when not required and expanded into a round plate whenever required. She also suggests writing health related advisory at the back of the plate for people

In open dustbins and in closed ones as well, a lot of bugs/insects keep hovering. If a bug zapper is attached to the top of the dustbin, all such insects could be killed immediately preventing the spread of germs,

Sir , to improve the textile industry we should improve our labour laws just like Bangladesh and Singapore. Bangladesh is a small country but is the second largest producer of textile in the world because they focused more on their labour laws. So we should do the same

Target fully circular value chain economy by 2040- an economy without waste, less pollution where everything runs on reusable raw materials helping reduce carbon emissions and water usage. Target at least 30% recycled material in newly produced textile products by 2028. Phase out dangerous substances/non-renewable resources. Move towards renewable, regenerative inputs for both textile in clothing & technical textile ( used in automotive, medical, protective clothing etc. )
