The strings of India's development have been inseparably attached to the success of its Textiles sector. The industry's symbiotic relationship with agriculture widens the range of beneficiaries.

•4.5 crore people are directly employed while another 6 crores are indirectly in this sector with a considerable stake of women and rural population.

•5% of the global trade in textiles and apparel is to India's credit.

•India's centuries-old knowledge and expertise in this sector have positioned it as the world's 2nd largest manufacturer and exporter with a 12% share in total exports (2018-19).

And now we, at the Textiles Ministry have our sights set on achieving global leader status for India. Government under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has been pushing for innovation and incentives to realise the mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by bolstering exports, quality & productivity, competitiveness, technology up-gradation, research & development, and training & skill development in this industry.

Now, we are keen to listen to the suggestions of Industry experts, innovators, students, business leaders, and all other contributors to this sector to expedite our mission. As we mark the 75th year of India's Independence, we want you to have an increased stake in the success of the Textiles industry.

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 15th August 2021.

The main shortcoming of the textile is the low online presence. If all the weavers were connected to the consumers through a government digital portal, the optimum revenue could be generated. This site could also be used to gather donations for the weaver's business upscaling. Like someone mentioned, and like how it is being done in Kerala, the weavers should be given various commissions for sewing uniforms for school children and other public staffs and officers. Jai Hind.

Respected Sir, 1) We can get improvement in textile industries by providing proper training and equipments to people who are working at low level. 2) 'jariwork' of the fabric must done with special kind of machine,to reduce labor work. 3) New design patterns must be introduced to it more attractive to the people. 4) The price must be in a range so that every individual of our country may be able to buy at the level of price they want. 5) All fabrics must be comfortable irrespective of it's cost.
