Sir, When an advertisement is printed or shown in tv then it is the responsibility of the newspapers or tv channels to take maximum care before it is advertised. If they dont take this responsibility then its difficult to control misleading advertisements. Secondly the person who advertise should show all the required documents of the business and should get a police clearance certificate (PCC) then the crime level will become low.

Govt should setup: 1. A Consumer Complaint system with Online portal & Mobile apps with ability to track complaint progress/status. 2. A tribunal with power to take suo moto cognizance of misleading ads, address consumer complaints in time bound manner and deliver legally-binding judgements (appeal only to HC). 3. Repeat offenders must be punished with heavy penalty and possibly barred to advertise for one year.

While I agree that there are provisions for lodging complaints against misleading advertisements the general public lacks awareness in the proceedings of the complaints. This awareness should be spread throughout. The brand ambassadors/ celebrities/ad agencies etc have a responsibility towards the society and should vouch for the products accordingly. Strong penalty should exist if not adhered to standards . All ads should pass the scrutiny of the ad council before publishing (kill at the root)

For Misleading advt. not only company , but the channels must be also , who are minting the money , for telecasting such advt. The Major fault is of TV channels in electronic media & News papers in Print Media & they must be punished & also to compensate the customers , who get cheated.

every problem has a solution in its creation. so there is no any meaning of new agency for it but consumer should have some right for feed-backing a brand. & most important a team to rate n cross check these ads should form at national level whoose recommendation is necessary for ad promotion on TV or social media
