Varanasi has been selected by MoUD, GoI under Smart City Mission Phase-I 100 cities. In the next phase, Varanasi has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities.
Citizens and stakeholders of Varanasi are requested to post their views and suggestions on the Smart Vision Statement for Varanasi to be developed as Smart City. The solutions, suggestions & views should reflect the Vision of the City.
Vision:

“To revive the Glory of Varanasi by conserving and promoting its heritage and protecting its cultural and traditional environs to boost tourism and employment, provide quality urban services, accountable governance to enhance the quality of life of citizen”

The street lights should have camera installed in the smart city for effective public monitorng There should be more mobile app based facility in the smart city The city should have sufficeint numbers of the Wi-FI facility zone areas so that internet accessibility is maintained.

The metro should later cover the entire town in future The Lanka and Bhelupur area should be taken under retrofitting The Roads should be dug once, they are likely to be dug up during the IPDS schemes, so it would be better if all the facilities are laid for once

Authorities must ensured that there is no overlapping with the smart city and AMRUT Schemes The authorities must ensure that during the implementation of the smart city scheme, the original character of the town is not changed Authorities should see that during implementation of the smart city scheme, there is no disturbance to the public at large

The reparing of several pot holes should be addressed before the undertaking the smart city works It is required to educate people before implementing the smart city proposal If there are any components related to telemedicine and e-education in the smart city proposal
