Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

please provide transportation facility (goods carrier) with better software and with online tracking tool . and also provide facility to deliver goods to customer house/shop with extra charge. this will generate income and increse railway customers in goods parcel field. also provice insurance on parcels (goods) on less price.

To increase non tariff revenue, IR can provide below services at additional Price 1. Wi-Fi 2. Less noise bogies. 3. Better courier and parcel service. 4. Better food options 5. Advertising outside and inside bogies. Also on train stations and railway bridges. 6. Electricity point, on hourly basis. 7. Laundry service. 8. Bathing amenities. 9. Plane like sale of products at discount 10. Porter service 11. Attendant premium class 12. TV access over mobile 13. Seat location based price

Budget focus on providing Solar Panels on Train Tops over a million Trains,can provide fuel for Goods, Passenger and @ Station services. Electric Charging stations at all Stations for Public Transport & Goods vehicles- Can reduce Imports by 50 %,Pollution free cities,reduced Goods cost- reduced inflation... Startups can speeden this innovation on Product,Transport Services like Electric Transports-cars/Goods Transport/cold storage,charging stations,Wifi internet facilities to Digital India

Start inter city packers and movers service or tie up with existing players in same market. They are spending huge on Road Transportation especially from one city to other. Can be established as a separate entity as a part of Railways with specialized professionals managing same.

Stop parcel booking through DALALS I m a pharma mfgr in mumbai, send goods all over India by transport. In railway,every one books by DALALS(not direct). -DALAL charges 5times(2500 instead of 500) -I lost 3 consignment(DALAL changed mob no.) -DALAL changes mob no.,keeps switch off, rarely picks -Not sending goods to the real destination. (X is d earlier station of Y, fromZ i book goods to X but they sent to Y & my party took goods to X by bus)

1. Advertisements outside and inside the railways like tv displays or notice boards 2. courier servies for all the leading retailers like amazon/flipkart 3. solar sheets across the railway platforms to reduce the electricity bills 4. small areas in boggies for retail purpose like some stationaries/books/travel items

Gujarat has very large network of narrow gauge. If it is converted to broad gauge and if one runs DEMU/ MEMU lot of road traffic can be reduced. Example is Vadodara - Chhota-Udaipur line, it has reduced vehicular traffic and also the revenue is also good. This network can also provide alternate routes during calamity/ accident.
