MyGov Talk with Hon. Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar on Climate Change

In the run-up to COP (Conference of Parties) 21 scheduled in Paris from 30th November to 11th December 2015, MyGov and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change are pleased to announce a MyGov Talk with the Honourable Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar on the 26th October 2015 at 5.00PM in collaboration with Google India.

With India's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the country is keen to attempt to work towards a low carbon emission pathway, while simultaneously endeavouring to meet all the developmental challenges that the country faces today. The INDC aims at promoting clean energy, especially renewable energy, enhancement of energy efficiency, development of less carbon intensive and resilient urban centres, promotion of waste to wealth, safe, smart and sustainable green transportation network, abatement of pollution and India’s efforts to enhance carbon sink through creation of forest and tree cover.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas, questions and inputs on India's role in COP21 and on the following proposals laid down by INDC:

• Sustainable Lifestyles
• Cleaner Economic Development
• Reduce Emission intensity of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
• Increase the Share of Non Fossil Fuel Based Electricity
• Enhancing Carbon Sink (Forests)
• Adaptation
• Mobilizing Finance
• Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

Selected ideas and names would also be mentioned by the Hon. Minister and other experts during the MyGov Talk.
Contributors from MyGov, Climate Change Experts, senior journalists and social media influencers will join the panel discussion with Shri Prakash Javadekar.

Respected Sir, My suggestion is that the Governement should start educating people through TV Channel or Radio Talks about the medicinal benefits in our day to day life, of each plant available in their neighborhood, so that they understand its importance and try to preserve that plant. Many people does not know that Hibiscus plant available in most of the house or in their neighbourhood can act as a weight reducing agent, if tea made of its flowers is taken on a regular basis.

Some suggestions on achieving objectives of INDC 1. Sustainable lifestyles - To acheive this there has to be large scale awareness and education to citizens on optimum use and conservative approach towards utilizing energy resources. 2. Subsidize LED lights and complete ban on incandesant light bulbs. 3. Tax incentives to companies making solar power charging units and batteries. 4. Install solar powered eqmts in houses on grid and share load with grid power.

Suggestions- 1. Government should think of making this country polythene free, and should help paper industry in making paper bags by reducing taxes levied on paper industry. 2. Government should promote use of cycling as a means for daily travelling, by building proper road infrastructure, separate road lane for cyclists, so as to reduce air pollution and fuel consumption. This can be done by incorporating my suggestion in the 100 smart cities plan, separate road lane for cycle in each city

Respected Sir, I suggest that the Namo Government should introduce a bill in the Parliament to add "cleaning" as the fundamental duty of every Indian.

Respected Sir My Suggestions: 1) Preservation of existing greenery forests a) Satellite Imaging based application can help to spot fires and actions can be taken up immediately to put off fire. b) Wide strategy and Technical Research - To prevent and fix existing landslides in hilly regions 2) Rapid - plantation - Development of Drone based technology for rapid plantation 3) Wide campaign for public awareness for plastic waste. Sir, 1. To increase carbon sink: fruit trees should be planted in between 6/8 lane roads. 2. In India we should discourage glass buildings, more green buildings, lime stone, hollow bricks etc. Technology should be used for construction. 3. Research should be done to generate electricity and waste treatment for household as a unit. 4. R&D in Solid Waste Management. 5. Citizens should be encouraged to reduce their carbon credit.Minimum use of Plastic bags, bottles,e-waste etc.

Dear Sir If you look at the cause of pollution in all cities and vilages, you will find plastic and polyethene bags as major contributor. Can we completely ban these products and instead promote biodegradable bags or jute bags? This will also promote employment for handloom workers. All manufacturers and sellers of food and drinks in plastic container and bottles should also own the responsibility for disposal or recycling that plastic waste. Thanking you in anticipation..

Make complusory planting of trees for every building and traffic violations generation of power from prisons by prisoners in return they can earn profits on every unit produced make short distance travelling electrical or hybrid energy with affordable price for middle class earners

Respected Sir, we in India have got a good opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint, created by excessive usage of fossil fuels to generate power-instead we can use our existing infrastructure of public/ private house roof tops, which are hardly of any use and convert the same to erect solar power panels for generating power. We have huge resources in terms of existing stadiums and other infrastructures where the roof tops can be valuable resource for erecting solar power panels.

Water shortage!! A big problem, do we have 2050 water plan for Indian population at that time? Apart from cleaning rivers, are we also educating people to recycle water?Are we educating them on the dryland farming techniques? Any changes in eating habits will be required? If yes, what are the changes? Do we have open space/forest plan for 2050? Instead of preaching globally, let us also save our own country. Act fast , very little time is left.
