Respected Sir, Greetings of the day.
I would appreciate if you could bring strict guidelines to control medicines for patients, even if they are generic.
The patients are swindled, especially with the generic. For example if a drug "X" i generic form costs INR 15/-, the print on it says MRP 65/-. The pharmacy gives a discount of 10%, to the patient, that is INR 59.50. The pharmacy gets a whooping profit of INR 44.50. This is just an example. Imagine for almost thousands of varieties, the gain. Poor patients are taken for a ride.
Also they get an extremely large margin in Over The Counter sales. A patient who is unable to pay doctors fees, approaches the pharmacists, saying he as cough & needs medicine. He is given a combination oof a generic antibiotic, pain killer, an antihistamine & a cough syrup, all generic & charged INR 75/. The gain for the shop owner will be Rs 50/-. He gets at least a 30 to 40 OTC patients.
Kindly bring laws to regulate such malpractises for patients.
