The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is pleased to inform you that our city has been selected through a competitive process for Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). In the next phase, our city has to compete with 98 other cities to make it to the top 20 to be taken up for first round of funding, for year 2015-16.

The city needs to formulate a vision, mission and a proposal in consultation with citizens and other stakeholders. We urge you to share your ideas and be an integral part of the journey towards making Vizag a smart city!

“My Visakhapatnam of Tomorrow” – A vision Competition

• The question you need to answer is “What is your vision for Vizag smart city”?
• Maximum word limit – 100 words.

The best 3 Vision Statements would be declared as winners.

The competition shall be closed on 1st November, 2015.

Prize Money (Cash / Vouchers / Gift items):

• 1st Prize: INR 10,000/-
• 2nd Prize: INR 6,000/-
• 3rd Prize: INR 4,000/-
• Consolation Prizes (25 nos.): INR 1,000/- each

How to Submit

All the entries must be submitted online through https://mygov.in.

Terms and Conditions

1. All participants must clearly mention following details in their entries:

• Name
• Mother’s Name
• Father’s Name
• Address
• Age
• Contact number (with area code)

2. The winner will be chosen on the basis of simplicity of thought, realism in ideas, and originality in content.

3. The decision of GVMC on selection of top three winners and consolation prize winners shall be final. GVMC officials can participate in the competition but will not be eligible for rewards.

Toursim is one of the main plus points of Visakhapatnam which can be better attracted by maintaing technological information services in bustations and railwaystations.Establishing amusement parks of international level and imax theaters,shopping complexes in the station areas. AIR & WATER rides can attract more tourists too.All the roads must be laid with plastic as it helps to stay for a longer time. Parks:parks developed all over the city with proper maintenance. Pollution: city should be free from all kinds of pollution including noise pollution from loud speakers etc. Govt. Services: full transparency in govt. services free from corruption and red-tapism.

Drainage and Sanitation: entire city should implement modern sanitation techniques to keep the drains covered and the city tidy. Construction of flyovers: construction of flyovers should be planned and executed at the earliest at NAD Crossroads, Maddilapalem, Isukathota, Siripuram and Satyam Wipro junctions. Naming of roads and streets: All roads should be properly named/numbered after eminent leaders and freedom fighters and names& nos prominently displayed for easy identification

Traffic and Parking: Strict enforcement of traffic rules.deterrent against offenders,multilevel parking and parking lots developed in all areas. Mobile vendors and others: should be allowed only in hawkers zones.

What does a smart city need..... What I envision is..... better road infrastructure with ring roads and proper exits. Proper disaster management. Training citizens not to liter and provide trashes at required locations. Education facilities should be improved, international and government schools should have better standards Better sewage treatment. Focus for recreational activities. Use the beach as a tourist attraction for example building a board walk. Care for stray animals. 24/7current

"Traffic regulation" is one of my finest vision for a smarter Visakhapatnam. In the evenings,due to the LED lights and the high beam lights of the vehicles nothing is been visible on the roads,so a ban must be made on the high beam lights by sticking a sticker to the high beam light area of the vehicle.A strict implementation of this can lead to reduction of accidents.Autoes must be made to stop at a single stop for an area to avoid inconvinience to other vehicles.Swarn,8790606202,DNO6-40,VSP-40

My vision for a smarter Vizag is the "DESTINY" itself."D"evelopment of "E"ducational govt institutions and the skills imparted to students,Proper "S"anitary arrangments being underground in the slum areas,"T"echnology at its best and its usage in the eservices in govt offices for speeder work,"N"eatness ein every single street of Vizag,with large scale recruitment of "Y"outh in concerned branches based on their qualifications for a better n modernized functioning providing efficient results.
